How Do I Enroll in the Dental Hygiene Program?

Students must first complete several prerequisite courses before applying to the limited-enrollment Dental Hygiene Program. These courses may be completed individually or as part of an AA in Health Sciences. Please note, having completed the AA in Health Sciences program at Hodges University makes you an excellent candidate for the Dental Hygiene Program, but it's not a guaranteed acceptance.

How Do I Apply to the Dental Hygiene Program?

Dental Hygiene Program Admission Requirements

You can apply to the Dental Hygiene Core once you have met certain criteria and have successfully completed the prerequisite courses. These criteria include:

  • Submission of an application to Hodges University
  • A GPA of 2.5 for all of the prerequisite courses listed within the Pre-Dental Hygiene Core

Once you have met the entry requirements, you can submit the secondary application to the Dental Hygiene Program. We’ll contact you to begin the secondary admissions process, which includes:

  • An interview with Dental Hygiene and other Health Science faculty and a manual dexterity test
  • Writing an essay on a selected topic given to you at that time. The essay must be one page in length and you have one hour to complete it.

Applicants will be told of their status approximately three weeks after the interview, dexterity testing, and essay have been completed. If accepted, prospective students will be conditionally admitted pending their Level II Criminal Background Check with finger printing, a physical examination, immunization record documentation, drug screening, and final grades.

Tuition for this program includes instruments, text books, and two sets of scrubs. Additional student expenses include dental loops with a light, blood pressure cuffs with stethoscope, and licensing exam fees.
